Around Madison: Quilting club takes a break from needles to talk jugs and pots

Pat Shields and his wife, Janice Hall Shields, speak about pottery Feb. 10 to a gathering of the sewing group at the Madison County Library. The Danielsville couple, who own Georgia Mudcats Pottery, make functional pottery along with their popular face jugs. Their work was featured in Southern Living magazine in 2008. The library sewing group meets each Wednesday at 1 p.m.

FFA parliamentary procedure team



The Madison County Freshman Academy FFA parliamentary procedure team recently placed third in the Area 2 FFA parliamentary procedure career development event at the University of Georgia’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Science. The team included, from left, Kristen Banister, secretary Brooke Adams, Shabrittany Upshaw, C.J. Petty, Nate Sartain and chairman Kevin Jones. Participants develop leadership skills and learn to participate effectively in business meetings.

Farm management teams take awards at Jefferson event
