Library has storytime, sewing

The Madison County Library is observing National Library Week, which began this past Sunday and runs through Saturday. Residents younger than 18 who sign up for a library card this week will receive a special prize.

The library has a number of activities planned for this month. Among the programs are:

► Pajama Story Time: At 7 p.m. April 30, kids are invited to attend storytime, which includes a bedtime snack.

► Young Adult Book Discussion: The group meets at 4:30 p.m. April 29 to discuss "Tears of the Tiger" by Sharon Draper.

► Preschool & Toddler Storytime: This program is a child's first introduction to reading and includes songs and crafts. Designed for children ages 2 to 5, this month's themes are Alaska, library poetry and Earth Day.

► Chapter Book Revue: An elementary-age read-along program meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. Books are available at the circulation desk and include the "Nancy Drew" mystery series, plus "How To Eat Fried Worms" and "Frindle."

► Library Sewing Group: This craft group meets each Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the General Purpose Room. This month will group will complete UFOs (UnFinished Objects). The group will be bringing in some of their completed work to display each week. On April 22, the group will show off doilies and afghans.
